Answered my own question, it is the aforementioned Mike Salk. Lemme tell you about Mike Salk. Originally from the Boston area, WEEI brought in Salk from Seattle to replace Glen Ordway. Ordways popularity had been fading for some time, and even pairing him with the popular Michael Holley didn't help.
So they bring in Salk and pair him with Holley, and it was a DISASTER. Maybe the worst radio show I've ever heard, and I love Michael Holley. Salk clashed constantly with the now semi famous Kirk Minihane (you may remember him from calling Erin Andrews a gutless bitch...it was all over the news), and was generally hated by, well, everybody. He thought Rush was the greatest band of all time.
Less than a year after coming to WEEI, Salk mercifully left, and WEEI paired Michael Holley back up with his former daytime cohost, Dale Arnold.
Salk has been gone seven months, and he's STILL a punchline around here. His name comes up at least twice a week when somebody says something colossally stupid.

Yes, and now he's back in Seattle, paired with Brock Guard again, who I don't even like, but was much better in hindsight working with his last partner Danny O'Neil. Salk steps over co hosts to hear himself talk, is pretentious as fuck, and sounds like a walking Sportscenter feed... Very corporate and says the most made up bullshit nonstorylines ever.

I stopped listening to sports talk when I realized that Jim Rome was, literally, the best we are going to get. That's depressing as hell.
Actually, Cincinnati has a guy who is both funny and lucid, but they don't seem to let him out of his cage very often, preferring to go with national-level morons and a guy who was a bench player for the Reds for a season or so.
